Spring Training thoughts..

Well first of all..I'm not there so my thoughts are limited to what I hear and see on ESPN and read on MLB.com. I hear Milton is going to be the DH this Wednesday and back in the outfield when the Cubs play the Dodgers this Friday. Let's hope he gets over his left thigh b.s. I have no sympathy for someone who gets paid that much to leave a game when it's not EVEN the start of the regular season.

I'm carrying an emotion towards the start of this season I haven't carried during spring training ever before - skepticism. Sure, we all get it at some point during the regular season, but this time around I'm starting with a full glass of skepticism and not ready to quite empty it out.

It's always nice to see Zambrano on his A game, but sometimes he gets so off you want to put your hands over your head and just cry. Is it just me or is last season's disappointment spilling on to the '09 season? I'm not sure...am I the only one who feels this way? I swear I wasn't this bitter after the '03 b.s. we suffered through..Bartman...Alex Gonzalez and his in-field mistake. Yeah I still remember the pain, but I don't remember being this ********** at a team..ever.

In fact, now that I have officially di-gressed from the spring training topic - I even have been bitter with my friends from the Cubs corporate office. My conversations over the phone have been something like "yes, I need 5 tickets to home opener..they are damn lucky I'm even going. And why don't they cut their ticket prices by $10 to help the economy? Especially after what their fans have suffered through. A swear word or two comes to mind here." Insert wherever...

I just really thought it was going to be last year..so it's like I didn't get what I wanted and I'm still pretty ticked off. I know, you can't live in the past, you can't CHANGE the past so why dwell on it. I guess in the sports world it's different.

I am sure if I were down in Mesa watching my beloved Cubbies I'd feel less bitter, less skeptic. I'd see Milton limping and feel bad for him and forget all about last season..because, well - I am a Cubs fan and that's what we do, right?

We'll see how I feel next week. I hope the Cubs kick the crap out of the Dodgers this weekend, I don't care if it's just spring training.

And, btw...Manny rejecting the Dodgers' $45million offer is laughable. Ha.

GO CUBS!
