Cubs in Vegas

Ok first of all..it’s VEGAS.

Second..it’s the CUBS.

Third..I live in Los Angeles..it’s an easy thing to get to and so tempting. I just got back from Mardi Gras what do I do? Next Thurs..Cubbies..Vegas. How much trouble can one get into?

I hear Cubs are 2-0 too. Getting on that Cubby “It’s Gonna Happen” bandwagon? Not yet…but I’m easily persuaded when the Cubby blue is flowing in my veins.

Winter meetings – for those that need a laugh

seriously…a little late posting this but pretty funny:

46 DAYS PEOPLE

Don’t even tell me you aren’t counting down. I just returned from Mardis Gras (by the way amazing time!) and saw a ton of Cubs shirts and of course had to let them know in my drunken stupor that I in turn am a Cubs fan too.

Am I over my 2008 upset? Well of course NOT, but am I excited yet again about this year? Yes, of course…but probably more so because I will get the chance to go to opening day this year and go with my closest friends, that share my love..and sometimes hate of our beloved Cubby blue.

I just hope that the all to familiar icy wind that sometimes can sting your face and fingers (and anything else exposed) during a home opener will decide not to grace us with her presence.

I’m not going to say this is the year either. I don’t care if they have a better record going into the playoffs then last year. Not gonna say it…..I’m not going to say it ever again, until they seriously actually win the World Series.

To all of my fellow Cubby obsessed fans, I will see you on opening day at Wrigley – and if you can’t make it look for me on TV…I’ll be sporting a tan and long blonde hair (thx Cali for keeping me warm) and something Cubs..probably a jacket and my Cubs beads I got down in the big easy.

GO CUBS!

Northside vs. Southside Definitions

Ok ok so you’ve heard them all before. I was watching “No Reservations” on the Travel Channel last night (2/2 episode) with Anthony Bourdain where he visits Chicago. I must say I was a little annoyed with his banter about how over-weight Chicago people are, but oh well. Not everyone is overweight!! At any rate not only did he say that Chicago has the best hot dog he’s ever had (and coming from a New Yorker that’s saying a lot), but he asked Chicago’s shock jock DJ, Mancow what exactly the difference was between northsiders and southsiders. Mancow’s definition was simple, but probably true: Northsiders = well educated, wealthy, Cubs fans. Southsiders = Poor, but have common sense.

Let me just make a factual note that no where were the White Sox mentioned on this show. In fact the Cubs were mentioned at least 3 times. Brand equity. And really, who cares about the White Sox anyways?

I was a little disappointed that Anthony Bourdain didn’t visit any of the great eateries in Wrigleyville, but I will be visiting Hot Daug’s on California, hopefully after my next Cubs game when I’m in Chicago!

Stay warm all my fellow Cubs fans that are living in Chitown…the worst has passed and 2 more months and opening day will be here and a fabulous Chicago summer awaits you..and hopefully a fabulous new team. Is it time to pray to the MLB gods yet?

GO CUBS!
