’09 Cubs home opener countdown
111 days until opening day…111 days.
Ok it’s the holiday season, please tell me I did not just look at when the Cubs home opener is and count the days until the date. OMG I just did.
After an ending season of utter heartbreak I did it again. WHAT is wrong with me? Do I have a disease? Does the city of Chicago slip something in their water to make me this addicted and not stick to my word that I will NOT make them a priority in my life? They have to because once again, here I am back already before the holiday season is even over.
I need help. Is there a cure to this disease? Is the only cure a World Series win?
Is there a special treatment center somewhere in the suburbs of IL off of Lake Michigan that I don’t know about? If so please send me the address. The first step in any addiction is admitting it. I’m there!
111 days until Cubs home opener 2009.
Someone help me!!!!

the only cure that i know of is to continue to believe and “wait til next year” . . . being a baseball card collector (more appropriately hobbyist) I also have a blog; primarily devoted to the cards of the cubs and the heartbreak of 1969. Please check it out: http://www.wait-til-next-year.blogspot.com
Keep on believing . . . our disease will find a cure . . .
That’s awesome and it’s just being a fan.The best cubbies story I ever heard was this old preacher I knew who was at a Cubs game opening day and the first cub batter takes a strike and the guy next to him looks over and says “there goes the season.”

I never responded to this..first of all rocky mountain: I just laughed at your story on the preacher at the first game. I’ll be at home opener in 45 days because, well..I’m still a believer. When I was born some nurse must have injected me with Cubby Blue fever.
Wait-til-next-year guy – ahh the pain of 1969. I wasn’t alive, but I’ve heard. You still believe, but you never forget the pain you endure. It’s what makes us true fans.
